During the summer of 2015 I was invited to sail with the Belgian Navy Frigate Leopold I during an newly organised Joint Maritime Demo Day. It was to replace the yearly Belgian Navy Days which has now been cut back to a two-yearly event thanks to budget cuts. Besides a few young outsiders the guests consisted mostly high ranking members and several high profile people, so in essence these are the only pictures of this event you will find on the net.
A whole day we were able to witness several exercises of the combined armed forces from the Belgian Defence! The displays ranged from F-16’s and Alouette III operations to demonstrations of our Special Forces, police patrol boats, NH90 Helicopter and even the clearance of a WWII mine. It was surely a day I will always remember!
I’ll let the pictures do the talking, please enjoy!
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures, as I have surely enjoyed my time on the Leopold I. See you next time!
